Public Education (PE) courses are held as a service to the boating public with the goal of enhancing boating safety. All boaters are encouraged to attend these courses. Courses are taught on a continuing basis where the next course commences the week following the conclusion of the previous course. Note, a nominal charge is assessed for PE course materials. Boating Skills and Seamanship. This eight lesson course covers a wide variety of topics. The course is designed for the novice power boater. However, experienced boaters will also find useful information in this course.
Basic/Advanced Coastal Navigation. The Coastal navigation course familiarizes the boating public with voyage planning, aids to navigation, visual and electronic navigation, and chart reading/plotting. Don't plan on heading off-shore without first completing BCN/ACN.
- Crew Academy. Learn basic line handling, knot tying and other necessary skills that new crew trainees need as they start crew training. Contact Darrell Burrow at (858) 569-7939 or email for more information.
Personal Water Craft (PWC). The PWC course provides the novice as well as the experienced operator a wide variety of topics necessary for safe operation. Course schedules are tailored to the needs and experience of the students.
America's Boating Course. Information that applies to all recreational vessels. Home study followed by in class summary and review with an Auxiliary Instructor. Course includes:
- General information about boats and maintenance.
- Information to make your boating experience safer and more comfortable.
- Tips on how to be a more courteous boat operator.
- Laws and regulations to which you must adhere.
